Nova Blue Environment

The company Nova Blue Environment based in Martinique in the French Antilles provides expertise and advice for research and development on issues related to tropical marine environment (ecosystems, ecosystem services, conservation and exploitation) and all activities related thereto. NBE has developed methodology and conducted several projects on ecosystem services in the Caribbean, Indian ocean and Africa, particularly indirect uses (Carbon sequestration, water purification, biomass production, coastal protection) delivered by marine ecosystems (seagrass beds, coral reefs, mangroves…).

Jean-Philippe Maréchal

Jean-Philippe Maréchal has a Doctorate of Science in marine tropical ecology from the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (Sorbonne University) and is an expert in coral reef ecology. He is the GCRMN-Caribbean (Global Coral Reef Monitoring Network) and marine invasive species referent for the French government. JPM research work focuses on the ecology of coral reefs and patterns of biodiversity in disturbed ecosystems, linked to anthropogenic pressures and ecosystem services. Hi research is build on local adaptations of reef species in short time periods, including the evolution of functional groups and structure of reef communities. JPM is based in Martinique and runs Nova Blue Environment.
